April 2011
The April meeting was attended by 25 Full & Associate Members with no visitors this month.
Chairman's Report
Our Chairman Eddie Cowan opened the meeting at 18:08 and, as customary, called members to their feet and asked us to remember old comrades and those that have gone before us, with a minute's silence.
The San Cristobal Festival parade in Torrevieja was poorly organised and one has to question our support for this event.
Although a programme of events was printed in English, as well as Spanish, confusion reigned when the English programme predicted the march commencing at 4pm and the Spanish one with the parade commencing at 5pm. Much confusion!
A request was made by the Chairman for volunteers to carry the "Paso" (Float) at Easter for the Costaleros. This is an International brotherhood (Cofraida) of men who carry the float in the Easter parade and until recently the only one in the world. Those that are interested in participating in this event to see Eddie.
An audit of funds was carried out recently with some recommendations and will be implemented for the next audit in 6 months time.
Secretary's Report
As more and regular correspondence arrives from Central Office a separate file has been created for those members to read. This will be placed on the bar along with any other information.
Treasurers Report
This report was given and shows us to be in a healthy position.
Welfare
- Don is slightly poorly with a cold but improving

Social Secretary
The Menu Del Dia at Elviras, organised by the RNA, was well attended by members. The RNA were not that pleased when we took the lions share of the raffle prizes. Each time one of our members took a prize, a rendition of Life On The Ocean Wave from Bill Nixon raised a few eye brows. Nice one Bill.
13th April: Lorraine Kurek was over on holiday, so some of the members took the opportunity to have lunch with her at the Captains Table. Punta Prima - see photo with this newsletter

Jokes
A burglar was rummaging through a house in the dark. He froze when he heard a voice say: "Jesus is watching you"
Sweating with fear, he heard the voice repeat: Jesus is watching you."
He finally found the courage to switch on the light, and discovered a parrot, which said again: "Jesus is watching you."
With a sigh of relief the burglar said to himself: "Whew just a stupid parrot."
"I might be a stupid parrot," said the bird, "But you'll find Jesus is a great big Doberman."
THAT'S IT!
