June 2011

The June meeting was attended by 35 Full & Associate Members with two visitors, Chris Mourant & Pamela Mourant.

There were 28 apologies for not attending the meeting.

Our Chairman Eddie Cowan opened the meeting at 1807 and welcomed our visitors to the meeting. Eddie as is customary asked for a minutes silence for old comrades and those that have gone before us with a minute’s silence. With a special mention for Robin Tuck (Exeter Branch), Ronnie Longridge (RMA Poole & LC Rate) Jim Rennie (Driver), Gimme Hamilton.

Thanks went to Eric Edwards who organised a Petanc day at the La Marina Sports Centre, a well organised event, and the weather was good although it threatened with a thunderstorm.

BBQ & Auction

Dave Lawton once again excelled himself with this fund raising event, with all proceeds going to the RMCTF. He managed to get both the comedian and the disc jockey F.O.C. however knowing Dave it will have cost him a few wets!! Thanks also go to Dave’s helpers on the day, without them, the event wouldn’t have happened.

The total raised on the day was £1390 and this was sent to Central Office. Well done Dave and the many thanks to the members that attended.

The planned visit to RFA Mount Bay was cancelled, probably due to the ongoing problems in Libya

The secretary reminded us of the need to get the application in to CTCRM regarding the Re-Union weekend.

Treasurer confirmed that the information regarding the finances of the Branch was on the notice board.

Welfare

Diane Whitelaw continues on medication, which unfortunately doesn’t agree with her and is feeling sick, but she has seen an improvement in her condition during the latter part of the week.

Mick Smallwood was at the meeting and looking well.

Don Churchill is under the weather, his blood sugar levels are low, and was at the doctors, during the duration of our meeting

Members are once again to let the Welfare Officer know of anyone who is ill or needs assistance.

Jokes

Lying on the psychiatrist’s couch, the Dean told the doctor he might be gay.
“What makes you think that?”
“Well my grandfather was gay and so was my father,” said the Dean.
“That doesn’t make you gay,” said the shrink. “We don’t believe it’s hereditary”.
“Yes but my brothers are gay”, pressed the Dean.
That’s uncanny,” said the doc. “Isn’t there anyone in your family attracted to women?”
“Yes” said the dean, “There’s my sister”

THAT’S IT!!
