October 2011
The October meeting was attended by 29 Full & Associate Members and three visitors Steve Munn, Mike McClure and Pat McClure. There were 3 apologies for absence.
From Scribes: Nice to see some old faces at the meeting, Royston & Iris Kears back in Spain after an extended break in the UK and Rod & Marrion Millington back among the members during their holiday here in Spain. Now that the “Hot “ season is now over lets hope that the cooler weather will bring back the members missing during the summer.
Our Chairman, Eddie Cowan opened the meeting at 1805 and called for a minutes silence for old comrades and those that have been killed in Afghanistan, Sgt Barry Weston, Royal Marines, Marine David Fairbrother, Royal Marines and L/Cpl Jonathan McKinlay, 1st Rifles.
The Chairman then reminded us about the details for Remembrance/Armistice Day. After the service at La Siesta Church there will be a buffet with the RNA at Sacko’s Bar. This will be in the way of a curry and a beef stew. There will be no sandwiches or SRSD’s (Sausage Rolls Self Destruct!!)
On the 16th December In Constitution Square, Torrevieja their will be the traditional carol service. All attending are requested to bring along dry and canned foodstuff for those in need locally.
Possible visit of an RN Vessel. Those interested in visiting whilst here names to the Chairman.
